If I over-watered a begonia, can I still use the root to propagate it?

This is an indoor begonia, and I'm not quite sure what kind--it WAS a big green leafy one, but I over-watered. I've cut off the floppy plant part with the big root-looking thing still in the soil. Can any part of it be saved to live again, and if so, what's the best approach?

It sounds like a rooted tuberous begonia. If that's the case take it out of the pot, and out of the soil and dry it out...a couple weeks. Then replant it in fresh soil and don't water it more than once a week. It should dry out between waterings. You will get a beautiful flower...good luck.
