Do I need to cut back begonias in hanging baskets,to encourage more blooms?

Be diligent cutting off the spent blooms. Begonias can take a hard pruning, but be sure not to cut off too many leaves or the plant will go into shock.

If you are talking about Non-stop or Tuberous begonias it is good to prune or cut them back every once in a while because if the stems get long and leggy the weight of the flowers can snap them. Do not "extreme" prune them, just snap a few of the longer stems to encourage branching. If you are talking about wax begonias (small flowers) you can shear them back to get them to branch out more thus making more flowers in a week to two weeks when they come back in bloom.
