Fire ant killer?

I want to put down some Fire ant killer in my landscaping. As I was planting my begonia's I discovered some fire-ants. I bought some fire-ant killer, but I am worried if I put it down, it will hurt the other "critters" that are healthy for the soil, such as worms, grubs, etc. etc. Any ideas you have would be great!!

Fire ant killer?
Unfortunately, the fire ant killers you buy commercially may kill some of the other critters as well. But chances are the ants already took care of those in the proximity of their nest anyway. Just sprinkle the bait on and around the nest, the ants are a bigger issue then the other insects which may be affected by the poison. Most of the poisons / baits are designed to target those pesky fire ants to begin with. Get control of them now before they get into your house and areas that may be harder to control.

Good luck.
Reply:I'd contact your local exterminator and ask if the ant killer you bought is saft but effective. They'll probably give you the best answer.
Reply:Grits..good old fashioned grits! Non invasive for plants and fruit/veggies
