Have you grown Angel Wing begonias? Or tuberous-rooted begonias? and Christmas Cactus?

I have these in mind as non-scented houseplants that bloom! Please advise: do you like them?

re: Angel Wings: I think the leaves are beautiful, especially the ones with the smaller leaves with the silver spatters on them and dark red stems, but I like plants that bloom .... do they bloom well? and under what conditions?

As for the tuberous rooted ones: do they stay in bloom if coaxed? They are so pretty.

And the Christmas cactus: I like the red and dark pink ones, but I once saw a large plant with about 40 white blooms for Christmas in the florist's ... It was really expensive, but I am wondering if you can coax them to be large and luxurious without a greenhouse and a florist's skills?

Thank you.

I have two angel wing begonia's and yes they do well indoors with BRIGHT OR FILTERED sunlight they rest about 8 weeks and bloom all year water when completely dry.I also have Christmas cactus, its now 3 years old and blooms in three colors being about 14 inches tall and over 2 foot around, once blooms set DO NOT move it,it will only bloom once about the frist of nov. I put it completely in the dark and cool conditions and profuse blooms when I take it out Christmas week it lasts little over a month then goes dormant Well worth the effort as blooms are beautiful! I summer it outdoors in shade.
Reply:I have growing mant types of begonias and cacti.

this year i will be growing succulents in hanging baskets
Reply:Yes, I like each of the plants you mentioned but I'm afraid that as a house plant , they are not very easy to maintain. A lot depends on how much care and light you can give them . Tuberous begonias are beautiful, but they normally do not stay in bloom indoors. Most plants will not stay in bloom indoors unless in a greenhouse and even then they don't stay in bloom all the time. The Christmas cactus is fairly easy to grow and lovely when it blooms which is only once a year. The only problem with this is it is not very attractive when not in bloom.
Reply:i have tubed begonias outside every year.... they come back most of the time... i love them they are so pretty~ pink red yellow white
