How do I transplant begonias?

I have begonias planted in a brick planter on the north side of my house. I would like to transplant them to ground elsewhere. What time of year is best %26amp; how to? I live in northern CA about 60 n of San Francisco.

How do I transplant begonias?
You should be able to do it just about any time - where in N CA do you live - inland or toward the coast? The only reason that matters is it affects your Zone (http://www.usna.usda.gov/Hardzone/hzm-sw... although honestly you shouldn't have a problem. If it's going from a container on the north side of the house into the ground somewhere else just be sure it gets enough water to survive the transplanting. It can't hurt to give it some root hormones too.
Reply:you can just dig a hole anywhere that has lots of sun

if it s warm all year then you can leave them out side but if it gets chilly at night below 50 then bring them in or they will die
Reply:My begonias are all tuberous and come from what looks a little like a bulb.

Each winter I dig them up, wait for the stems to start to go rotton, (they then fall off easy), and then put the bulb things in a box with a little compost in the green house to keep them out of the frost. By spring I give them a little water and before long they are shooting again. I then wait until the weather warms up before planting them outside.

I hope this helps.
