What am I doing wrong with my begonias and rubber trees.?

I've bought 3 different rubber trees and have killed 2 and working on killing the 3rd. The information that came with them said bright light or it could adapt to low light. I have my latetest one getting light from an small eastern window. I've tried watering less and more, fertilizing less and more but the leaves keep turning brown and falling off.

I believe the begonia is an angel wing begonia and the same is happening to it!

very little water, these plants store water in their leaves especially the rubber tree. begonias are a tough plant to care for but an angel wing (if it is) shouldn't be so intolerant. the one i had withstood quite a bit. most peoples mistake with plants is overwatering. if the soil is dry on top do not saturate it. it is best to have a tray to water from the bottom, let the plant drink for 20 minutes then empty any water left.
Reply:Rubber tree: water only when dry. Keep away from drafts. (they don't like forced air vents). fertilize very weak solution every second watering. Don't move around, it may drop it's leaves but once it's used to a spot it'll come back - especially with a little fertilizer. It probably got great light at the greenhouse and you are shocking the poor thing to adapt to low light. Weak fertilizer is like it's tonic to help it with the change.

Begonia, low light is o.k. but this one likes a little more water - *not soggy. I'd let it dry out just a bit and then try the weak fertilizer.

If they booth die pull one out of the pot and make sure you don't have any root rot or critters in there. Sometimes you can't see the problem until the autopsy is preformed.
Reply:Neither of these plants is tolerant to a draught or temperature fluctuation. I would move them somewhere sheltered, not on a window sill and not near a radiator or a door.
