Is there any way to winter my Begonias?

I have some really nice ones. I never thought you could but last spring I bought a disk like thing from a lawn and dog food store and it was a Begonia apparently in a dormant stage.

It grew into a plant though it took all year to develop. Its on my window sill but I still have more outside I would like to save before the frost. I keep other roots and bulbs in my basement. Can I also save the Begonias some how?

If so, how?

Is there any way to winter my Begonias?
you are not saying if they are tuberous or bedding???? i wouldn't mess with the bedding, but the canes and others are certainly worth saving.....keep them very cool...don't ever overwater begonias and don't worry if they start losing their foliage...as long as you can keep the plant alive....try using some inexpensive gro lights....buy the cheapest flourescent tubing fixture and use a gro light instead of the flourescent...you will be in business. I think begonias might be my very favorite, but now I am in south

Texas and the winds are too high and it is too hot...
Reply:If you want to save the bedding, just take cuttings, 3 to a 3" pot...dip in rooting hormone , keep in the warm house until starting to root, then take them to the basement with lighting. Don't forget to use a pastic tent over each pot until they start rooting... Report It

Reply:I have begonias in pots and I bring them in for the winter and set them beside my sliding glass door keep them watered, I set them on a plastic trash bag as they shed leaves and flowers, they will bloom all winter but will get scraggley looking, in the spring I pinch them back and set on the back deck, started out with one small pot, I now have three pots full, if I break off a good heathy stem I stick it in a fresh pot of potting soil and keep it moist and it takes off and thrives really well.
