What do begonias do?

I bought some non-stop begonias and they have been beautiful all summer. Are these flowers that come back in the spring? Should I bring them into the house? They're definitely failing now. I only bought them because I thought they were beautiful but I don't know what to expect from them now. Thanks (P.S. I don't know much about gardening.)

Yes, it is best to dig them up %26amp; place them in a paper bag. Then place them someplace where they will not freeze. Begonias ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!! I love their striking colors. My favorites are the Apricot %26amp; the deep red. Oh! %26amp; the yellow. The white is great too. O.K. I guess I like them all.... HA HA HA!!!


Before you dig them up, just give them a chance to let the green die back first. This will feed the bulbs. When you dig them up, do NOT remove any of the roots %26amp; you can leave a little dirt on them. A good thing to do is write on the bag what the bulb is %26amp; what color the flowers are. That way you can mix %26amp; match in the spring without wondering which color is which......








I live in Alaska %26amp; I have repotted the same Begonias for the past 2 years. I just recently brought them in to winter over. Mine are also the non-stop Begonias. I don't know why someone would give my answer a thumbs down. I know what my plants are %26amp; what they are doing. I am not master gardener, but I know that much.....
Reply:no they don't come back in the spring. You could try bringing them in, but i've never had much luck. Every spring I buy new ones and enjoy their beauty till frost.

Reply:Begonias are annuals. If planted in the ground they will die over winter. If in pots, you can overwinter them in your house. Tuberous begonias will die back to the tuber which can be put aside during winter, in spring begin watering it and it will grow again.





You can also take cuttings of non tuberous begonias and root them in clear containers of water.
