If it belongs to you you can do whatever you like with it.

Can I split large Begonia Corms?
i leave mine alone the flowers get bigger by the year
Reply:You can split up large corms -in fact, they are technically tubers- though this is not the preferred method.

Bring the tuber into growth and then cut the tuber up, so that each piece has a growing point and some roots.

Dust the cuts with a fungicide, such as green sulphur, and then pot up, ensuring that the compost is kept away from the cut surfaces, for two weeks, to enable the cuts to dry.

Stem or leaf cuttings are more usual ways of propagating Begonia.
Reply:Yes you can split them when they are dormant. I split one several years ago when it was the size of a dinner plate. Now all the bits I split it into are the size of dinner plates also!

All you must do is ensure that the cut end does not get a fungal infection. Dusting with sulphur and keeping the tubers dry until the spring is the best method to do this.

Good luck.
Reply:Yes u can, just gently rip them apart.
